What Happens During a Ketamine Integration Coaching Session?
You had the ketamine experience.
Maybe something profound happened. Maybe something confusing happened. Maybe you saw something about yourself with startling clarity.
Or maybe you came away thinking, I am not even sure what just happened.
And now you are back in your everyday life.
So what do you do with it?
That is where ketamine integration coaching begins.
In a ketamine integration coaching session, you and I explore what arose during or after your ketamine experience, identify meaningful themes and patterns, examine resistance, decide which insights actually matter to you, and turn those insights into practical next steps.
I do not tell you what your ketamine experience meant.
Together, we explore what it means to you.
Because having an insight and creating change from that insight are two very different things.
I have spent more than 25 years coaching people through meaningful change and more than 4,000 coaching sessions listening to what happens between knowing something and actually living it.
That space matters.
Ketamine may open a door.
But lasting change belongs to you.
Quick Answer: What Happens in a Ketamine Integration Session?
A ketamine integration coaching session usually involves five parts:
1. We recall what arose.
We talk about what you remember from your ketamine journey and what you have noticed since. I also share the notes I took of the words you spoke during your journey, so every insight is yours to keep.
2. We identify themes and patterns.
Together, we explore recurring emotions, ideas, behaviors, questions, or realizations that may deserve attention.
3. We explore resistance and contradictions.
We look at the places where what you discovered and how you are currently living may not match.
4. We decide what actually matters.
Not everything from a ketamine experience needs to become a life lesson. We identify what feels relevant and meaningful to you.
5. We turn insight into practical next steps.
We explore how what you discovered might influence a decision, conversation, boundary, habit, goal, or action in your everyday life.
As your coach, I do not assign meaning to the experience.
I help you examine it, connect it to your life, and decide what you want to do next.
Integration Does Not Begin With Someone Explaining Your Experience to You
One of the first things I do in a ketamine integration coaching session is listen.
Really listen.
I want to know what you remember.
What surprised you?
What stayed with you?
What are you still thinking about?
Was there an image, thought, emotion, memory, sensation, realization, or question that keeps returning?
Sometimes a client has a great deal to say.
Sometimes there are fragments.
Sometimes the most important thing is not something that happened during the ketamine experience at all. It is something the person begins noticing afterward.
You do not need to arrive with a perfectly organized story.
When I say I’m listening, what that means is, I am listening for you.
Your language.
Your patterns.
Your contradictions.
The things you keep returning to.
The moments when something changes in your voice because we have touched something that matters.
My role is not to hand you an interpretation.
My role is to help you slow things down enough to notice what may deserve your attention.
Step 1: We Explore What Arose
Ketamine experiences can contain a tremendous amount of information.
Some of it may feel immediately meaningful.
Some may feel strange or disconnected.
Some may not make sense until later.
And some may never need to make sense at all.
In an integration coaching session, we begin by exploring what you remember. I also share back the words you spoke during your ketamine journey, captured as you said them, so every part of the experience is examined and witnessed.
I may ask:
What stood out most?
What felt different from the way you normally see yourself or your life?
What emotion keeps returning?
Was there something you understood differently in that moment?
What are you curious about now?
What feels important even though you cannot fully explain why?
We are looking for what continues to have relevance for you.
Step 2: We Look for Themes and Patterns
Once we have explored what arose, we can begin looking beneath the individual details.
Several seemingly unrelated parts of your experience may point toward the same theme.
Control.
Trust.
Grief.
Achievement.
Connection.
Boundaries.
Self worth.
Fear.
Rest.
Purpose.
A decision you have been avoiding.
A life that looks successful from the outside but no longer feels aligned on the inside.
This is one place where I, as your coach, can become especially valuable.
When you are living inside your own patterns, they can be difficult to see.
I listen across the conversation.
I notice what keeps returning.
I may hear a connection between something you said at the beginning of our conversation and something you say 30 minutes later.
I may notice that you keep talking about wanting one thing while repeatedly choosing something that moves you in the opposite direction.
And yes, I will point that out.
Not because I know what you should do.
I don't.
But because sometimes the gap between what you say matters to you and what you are actually choosing, is exactly where our coaching needs to go.
Together, we explore the thread.
Step 3: We Explore Resistance
Insight does not automatically make change comfortable.
You may recognize something very clearly during a ketamine experience and still resist it afterward.
That does not automatically mean the insight was wrong.
It may mean acting on it asks something of you.
Perhaps you realized that a boundary needs to change.
But changing it could disappoint someone.
Perhaps you recognized how exhausted you are.
But slowing down conflicts with the identity you have built around being capable, productive, or needed.
Perhaps you saw a pattern you have repeated for years.
But the familiar pattern still feels safer than doing something differently.
This is where I become curious.
If you tell me you discovered that something in your life needs to change, but several weeks later you can give me ten reasons why you cannot change it, I am going to want to explore that with you.
Not:
“Why aren't you doing what you know you should do?”
Instead:
What is making this difficult?
What are you protecting?
What does staying where you are give you?
What might changing cost you?
Does the insight still feel true now that you are outside the ketamine experience?
Resistance can contain valuable information.
I am not interested in bulldozing through it.
I want to understand it with you so that whatever you choose next is actually a choice.
Step 4: We Decide What Actually Matters
A powerful experience can create a temptation to treat every image, feeling, or realization as equally significant.
I do not believe integration requires you to reorganize your entire life by Tuesday.
Instead, together we ask better questions.
What still feels true?
What keeps returning?
What connects to something you already knew but had not fully acknowledged?
What feels important enough to explore further?
What would actually make a meaningful difference in your life?
What can you let go?
Integration requires discernment.
We are not trying to preserve every moment of the experience.
We are identifying what deserves to come with you.
Step 5: We Move From Insight Into Action
This is where coaching with me becomes practical and tactical. Awareness matters, and insight has a shelf life.
Action is how you make it last.
So I begin asking different questions.
What would this look like in your actual life?
What conversation needs to happen?
What boundary needs to be reconsidered?
What habit needs to change?
What do you need to stop tolerating?
What do you want to begin practicing?
What is one decision you could make differently?
What is one step you are willing to take?
The next step does not have to be dramatic.
In fact, some of the most meaningful integration happens through very ordinary decisions repeated consistently.
A conversation.
A morning practice.
A boundary.
A phone call.
A commitment placed on the calendar.
A different response to something that normally triggers an automatic reaction.
A moment when you recognize yourself slipping into an old pattern and make another choice.
That is where insight begins to acquire a life outside the ketamine experience.
What Questions Does a Ketamine Integration Coach Ask?
I am listening to what you bring into the conversation and asking questions that help you explore it more deeply.
Depending on what arises, I might ask:
What feels most important now?
What surprised you?
What are you seeing differently?
What keeps coming back to you?
Where do you feel resistance?
What are you avoiding?
What assumption might be worth questioning?
What do you say you want, and do your current choices support it?
What would acting on this insight actually look like in your life?
What is one choice you are willing to make differently?
Sometimes the most valuable coaching question is not complicated.
It is simply the question that makes you stop.
What Does Bronwyn Davis Actually Do During an Integration Coaching Session?
I listen for more than the story of what happened.
I listen for patterns.
I listen for contradictions.
I notice what you return to repeatedly.
I pay attention when your energy changes because we have touched something important.
I ask questions that help you examine assumptions, values, habits, choices, relationships, goals, resistance, and possibilities.
I may reflect something back to you that you have said three different ways without realizing it.
And I will challenge you when what you say you want and what you are choosing are moving in different directions.
Compassionate coaching does not mean agreeing with everything you say.
Sometimes the most compassionate thing I can do is help you see something you would rather walk around.
But I do not decide what your ketamine experience meant.
That authority stays with you.
This is foundational to The Conscious Ketamine® Coaching Method.
I bring more than 25 years of coaching experience, perspective, questions, accountability, grounded presence, and compassionate challenge to the conversation.
You bring the truth of your own experience.
Together, we explore what comes next.
Integration Is Part of a Larger Ketamine Coaching Process
I do not see integration as an isolated conversation that suddenly begins after ketamine.
In Conscious Ketamine Assisted Coaching®, I work with three important parts of the process:
Preparation Before
Together, we explore your intentions, what is happening in your life, what you want to understand or change, and how you want to approach the experience.
Grounded and Compassionate Presence During
When I am present during a client's ketamine experience, I am there as a coach.
My role is to offer grounded, compassionate, non directive presence while staying within the appropriate boundaries of coaching.
The medical provider remains responsible for the medical aspects of ketamine treatment, including prescribing, administration, dosage, medical monitoring, and clinical decisions.
I remain in my lane.
But my lane matters.
Being present during the experience can create continuity between what we explored beforehand, what arises during the experience, and what we explore together afterward.
Integration Afterward
Then we return to the work of integration.
What happened?
What stayed with you?
What changed?
What matters now?
What are you going to do with it?
Integration does not exist in a vacuum.
Something we explore afterward may connect directly to an intention you established beforehand or something that arose while I was present with you during the experience.
That continuity matters.
Why Does Experience Matter in Ketamine Integration Coaching?
Because knowing what questions to ask is only part of coaching.
Knowing when to ask it matters too.
So does knowing when not to.
After more than 25 years of coaching and more than 4,000 coaching sessions, I have learned that meaningful conversations cannot always be rushed toward an answer.
Sometimes I challenge.
Sometimes I reflect.
Sometimes I ask another question.
Sometimes I notice the thing underneath the thing we started talking about.
Experienced coaching is about knowing how to help you discover better answers for yourself.
What If I Cannot Remember Much From My Ketamine Experience?
You can still integrate.
You do not need a detailed memory of everything that happened. I am in the room during your ketamine journey, taking notes on the words you speak, and I share those notes with you afterward.
We begin with what is available.
What do you remember?
How did you feel afterward?
What has been different since?
Have you noticed a shift in your thoughts, reactions, relationships, priorities, or behavior?
Has something been bothering you that did not bother you before?
Has something suddenly become clearer?
Sometimes the material for integration is not a vivid memory from the ketamine experience.
Sometimes it is the way you encounter your life afterward.
That is worth exploring too.
What If My Ketamine Experience Did Not Feel Profound?
That is okay too.
There is no rule that says a therapeutic ketamine experience must contain a dramatic revelation to be meaningful.
I am cautious about creating pressure around the idea of a “breakthrough.”
When you are expecting fireworks, it can be easy to overlook quieter changes.
A little more space between a thought and a reaction.
A conversation that suddenly feels possible.
A pattern becoming easier to notice.
A different question emerging.
A subtle shift in perspective.
Integration coaching can help you explore what changed without forcing significance onto an experience that did not feel significant to you.
Sometimes the work begins with a breakthrough.
Sometimes it begins with curiosity.
Is Ketamine Integration Coaching the Same as Therapy?
No.
Ketamine integration coaching and psychotherapy are different professional roles.
As a coach, I focus on areas such as awareness, values, choices, patterns, goals, personal growth, accountability, and intentional action.
I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, provide psychotherapy, prescribe or administer ketamine, determine dosage, or medically monitor ketamine treatment.
Those responsibilities belong to appropriately licensed medical and mental health professionals.
A professional coach, licensed therapist, and medical provider can each play important roles in someone's ketamine care, but those roles should remain clear.
Ethical boundaries do not weaken the work.
They protect the client and the integrity of the work.
How Soon After Ketamine Should You Have an Integration Coaching Session?
Ideally, your First Integration Coaching Call takes place within 24 to 72 hours after your ketamine journey. This window is widely associated with heightened neuroplasticity, when the brain may be especially open to forming new patterns.
From a coaching perspective, I want to create space to explore what remains present for you afterward, while recognizing that understanding can continue to unfold over time.
You do not have to understand everything immediately.
Sometimes clarity arrives in layers.
The purpose of integration is to remain engaged with what matters, beginning with your First Integration Coaching Call and continuing from there.
What Should You Bring to a Ketamine Integration Coaching Session?
You do not need to arrive with a polished explanation.
Bring what you have.
A memory.
A question.
A journal entry.
A feeling.
A realization.
A contradiction.
Something you cannot stop thinking about.
Or simply the sense that something shifted and you want to understand what comes next.
That is enough to begin.
The Breakthrough Is Not the Finish Line
I have seen people experience extraordinary moments of clarity.
But clarity is not the same thing as change.
You still return to your relationships.
Your work.
Your habits.
Your responsibilities.
Your triggers.
Your calendar.
Your ordinary Tuesday afternoon.
That is where your insight meets your life.
Ketamine may open a door.
But you are the one who decides whether to walk through it.
My role as your coach is not to walk through it for you.
It is to help you explore what is on the other side, recognize what may be holding you back, decide what matters, and support you as you begin making choices that belong to the person you are becoming.
Because the goal is not simply to have an extraordinary experience.
The goal is to create a life in which what you discovered has somewhere to go.
Frequently Asked Questions About Ketamine Integration Coaching
What happens in a ketamine integration session?
A ketamine integration coaching session involves exploring what arose during or after the ketamine experience, identifying meaningful themes and patterns, examining resistance, deciding what matters, and translating insight into practical next steps. An integration coach facilitates reflection and action without imposing an interpretation on the client's experience.
What does a ketamine integration coach do?
A ketamine integration coach uses thoughtful questions, reflection, pattern recognition, accountability, and compassionate challenge to help a client explore insights from a ketamine experience and determine how those insights may apply to everyday life. Coaching focuses on awareness, choices, goals, growth, and action rather than medical treatment or psychotherapy.
Does a ketamine integration coach tell you what your experience means?
No. In my approach, the client retains ownership of the meaning of the experience. I help you explore what arose, notice connections and patterns, question assumptions, examine resistance, and decide what feels meaningful to you.
What do you talk about during ketamine integration?
We may discuss memories, emotions, insights, recurring themes, patterns, resistance, values, relationships, decisions, goals, habits, or changes you have noticed since the ketamine experience. The conversation ultimately focuses on what matters to you and how you want to respond to it.
Do I need to have a breakthrough before integration coaching?
No. Integration coaching can be useful whether your experience felt profound, subtle, confusing, emotional, uneventful, or difficult to describe. We work with what is actually present rather than manufacturing meaning that is not there.
Is ketamine integration coaching therapy?
No. Coaching and psychotherapy are different professional roles. Ketamine integration coaching focuses on awareness, personal growth, choices, goals, accountability, and intentional action. It does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions or replace appropriate medical or mental health care.
Can a ketamine coach be present during a ketamine experience?
A professional ketamine coach may provide grounded, compassionate, non directive coaching presence during a ketamine experience when that role is appropriate within the client's care arrangement. Medical eligibility, prescribing, administration, dosage, medical monitoring, and clinical decisions remain the responsibility of appropriately licensed medical professionals.
Can you integrate a ketamine experience if you do not remember much?
Yes. Integration does not require a detailed memory of the experience. Coaching can also explore emotions, questions, behavioral changes, shifts in perspective, or patterns you notice after the experience.
From Ketamine Insight to Intentional Change
I pioneered ketamine coaching as a profession because I saw the need for something beyond simply having an experience.

I bring more than 25 years of experience and more than 4,000 coaching sessions to this work.
But the change belongs to you.
If you are wondering what your own ketamine integration coaching session could look like, I invite you to schedule a 15 minute clarity call with me.
