Can Ketamine Coaching Help Me Figure Out What I Actually Want Next?
You can be deeply successful and still feel far from yourself. You built the career, kept the commitments, became the one everyone leans on. And yet there is a question you keep setting aside because it seems almost ungrateful to ask: is this still what I want?
Here is my answer. A plan for your life comes from your own choices, and no single experience can promise one. For some people, a therapeutic ketamine experience can loosen the hold of old expectations long enough to notice what they have been feeling underneath them. Coaching gives that noticing somewhere to go. With preparation beforehand, grounded and compassionate presence during, and integration afterward, you can explore what surfaced and begin shaping a next chapter that reflects who you are now, at your own pace and on your own terms.
You may already know how to achieve. The harder question can be whether what you are achieving still belongs to you.
I know that question from the inside. On my website’s My Journey page, I describe myself as “someone who had measured her worth in achievement her whole life.” When burnout and illness finally stopped me, I could not bulldoze my way through. What I found on the other side was a way back to myself.
Why Can Success Feel Disconnected From What I Want?
Many accomplished people have spent years getting very good at meeting expectations. Some of those expectations came from family, some from a profession, some from a version of yourself who set goals a decade or two ago. Meeting them made sense. It may have given you security, respect, and real satisfaction.
Over time, the goals can keep running after the reasons behind them have changed. You keep moving because you know how to move. The world looks at capable people and assumes they are fine. Often, the capable person assumes it too.
The gap can be hard to name when everything looks fine from the outside. It can show up as restlessness, a flatness around things that used to light you up, or a sense that you are the strong one for everyone except yourself. That is something to listen to. This is where a coach matters: someone outside the pattern who can hear what you are saying and ask the question you have not asked yourself.
Can Ketamine Help Me Figure Out What I Want in Life?
Ketamine can be one part of that exploration. During a ketamine experience, some people find they can look at their lives from a different vantage point. Familiar roles may feel less fixed. A desire you have dismissed for years may come forward. Others have experiences that are subtle, confusing, or seem unrelated to the question they brought in, and that is common too.
Ketamine opens the door. A coach helps you walk through it. Clarity about your next chapter rarely arrives fully formed, and even a powerful realization needs somewhere to live. Insight has a shelf life. Without attention and practice, what felt so clear in the session can become a memory of something you once understood. That is why I call it my 10/90 Rule.
Ketamine Is 10 Percent. Preparation and Integration Are the Other 90.
Those numbers represent my coaching philosophy, not a scientific measurement.
How Do Identity and Values Shape the Next Chapter?
When you ask what you want next, you are often asking a deeper question about who you are now. Identity can be tied closely to achievement. If you have been the reliable one, the high performer, or the person who always has it handled, imagining something different can feel like losing part of yourself.
This is where values matter. Goals tell you what you are reaching for. Values tell you why it matters. Here are a few questions worth sitting with:
- What did success mean to you when you first started chasing it, and what does it mean now?
- Which expectations feel like your own, and which ones did you inherit?
- When do you feel most like yourself, and how often does your current life make room for that?
- What are you no longer willing to trade for approval or certainty?
You do not need to arrive with answers. You can begin with a simpler question: what am I noticing now?
These questions are easier to explore with a coach beside you, someone who listens closely and reflects back what they hear.
What Does Coaching Through a Life Transition Look Like?
Transition is often uncomfortable before it is clear. You may know what no longer fits long before you know what comes next. I think of that in-between space as part of the process.
In preparation, we can look at the question you are carrying into your experience. That might be as open as “What do I actually want?” or as specific as a decision about work, relationships, or how you spend your time. An intention gives you a thread to return to afterward, whatever happens during the experience.
During your journey, I hold space with grounded and compassionate presence. I take notes on the words you speak and share them with you afterward, so your own words are there when you return to them.
In integration coaching, we look at what surfaced, whether it was a clear image, a feeling, or something you cannot quite put into words. You hold what it means. I listen, ask questions, and reflect back what I notice, so you can test what came up against your values and the realities of your life. From there, change can begin with small, practical steps: a conversation you have been avoiding, an experiment with how you spend your energy, or simply paying attention to what draws you in.
If your question is centered on one specific choice, you may find Can Ketamine Coaching Help Me Make a Major Life Decision? helpful. And if something surfaced that feels significant but uncertain, How Do I Know Whether an Insight From Ketamine Is Actually Important? looks at how to sort through it.
How Do I Work With You on What Comes Next?
In Conscious Ketamine-Assisted Coaching®, I work with you before, during, and after your therapeutic ketamine experience. A licensed provider prescribes and clears the medicine through assessment and handles your medical care. My role is coaching: I hold space with grounded and compassionate presence, and I help you carry what you experience into your everyday life.
You bring years of experience, judgment, and the ability to get things done. What I offer is a container: preparation that readies you, grounded and compassionate presence that steadies you, and integration coaching that helps make the change your own. You hold what your experience meant. Together, we explore what surfaced and what you want your next chapter to look like. The change belongs to you.
This work asks for coaches who are trained, credible, ethical, and safe. That is why I wrote the Ketamine Coaching Code of Ethics, my gift to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why Work With a Coach on a Question This Personal?
Questions about what you want are easy to circle alone. A coach listens closely, reflects back your own words, and asks questions that help you see what is true for you. A licensed provider handles your medical care, and a coach supports the work of turning what surfaced into choices that belong to you.
Do I Need a Specific Goal Before Ketamine Coaching?
No. Many people begin with a feeling, such as restlessness or a sense that something is missing. Part of preparation can be putting words to that feeling together so you have something meaningful to return to afterward.
What If Nothing Clear Comes Up About My Future?
That can happen. Sometimes what surfaces is subtle, or it relates to your question in ways that only become clear later. Integration coaching gives you room to notice what does emerge over the following days and weeks.
Is Ketamine Coaching the Same as Therapy?
No. Coaching focuses on awareness, choice, and practical change in your everyday life. It does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If you are experiencing significant distress, please reach out to your medical provider or a licensed mental health professional.
Will You Tell Me What My Next Chapter Should Be?
Your next chapter is yours to decide. I ask questions, reflect what I hear, and help you explore what came up so you can arrive at choices that feel like your own.
